Beeyoutiful Berry Well elderberry syrup....

As a member of the TOS Crew, I have had the opportunity to try out the Berry Well syrup from BeeYoutiful. According to the website, this syrup is intended to boost the immune system, with ingredients to help fight against the flu, bacteria, viruses, and even to help prevent cancer with the inclusion of raw apple cider vinegar which is believed to increase the body's alkilinity. Now, as with any supplement or natural remedy, this can't be proven, but the ingredients in this syrup are believed by many to have these positive qualities. Just what is in Berry Well?

  • organic purple elderberries

  • raw honey

  • bee propolis

  • organic echinacea root extract

  • raw apple cider vinegar

  • 2% pure grain alcohol

How does it taste? Okay, it's a little tart at first. It has a strong fruity, vinegar taste. Now, there is a warning not to give this to children under 1, due to the presence of the alcohol, and I would assume the same to be true of nursing mothers. If you are nursing or pregnant and interested in this product, please check with your doctor first. I am very sensitive to the presence of alcohol in medicines, but I felt just the tiniest bit relaxed after taking one tablespoon of this. In fact, I never took more than that in one day.

That does lead to a concern--the dosage. It does say on the website that it can be taken every three hours. I know in my own case that would quickly begin to compromise my ability to function at 100% due to the alcohol in it. So, again, I highly recomment talking to your doctor before purchasing this.

Does it work? Based on my use of this syrup, I just can't say. My husband and I are kinda big into healthy stuff and natural supplements anyway, so I already was sold on a lot of the positive properties of the ingredients in Berry Well.

How much does it cost? For 8 oz. it is $18.00. To learn more about this product, Berry Well, and its composition, and the other products that Beeyoutiful offers, you can go to their website at http://www.beeyoutiful.com/ . You can also read what other TOS Crew members have to say here.

  1. Hey There! =) Thanks so much for writing this review. As one of the co-owners of the www.beeyoutiful.com I've really enjoyed reading all the reviews of the great TOS Crew.

Just wanted to clarify a couple of points that you mentioned in your writeup. First of all, the reason that it says not to give it to babies one year old and younger is due to the Raw Honey content. Young babies do not have the enzyme to deal with the possible botulism content in raw honey.

The second is to clarify just how much alcohol is in this product. =D The entire bottle of BerryWell has approximately the same alcohol content as a can of Pepsi or an over-ripe banana. The FDA does not require alcohol content to be reported in food items unless it exceeds more than 1% of the total of the product. Beeyoutiful.com is a full disclosure company so we put EVERY component of our products on our labels unlike most companies. Unless you get a little relaxed or compromised from eating an over-ripe banana I would personally doubt that it was the alcohol content in the product that produced that relaxant effect that you noticed.

The Grain Alcohol content is very very small. It is actually part of the base of a tincture in which the Echinacea was extracted into so as a component of the overall product is VERY tiny. The reason alcohol is used as a tincture base for the echinacea is because certain beneficial properties are uniquely drawn out by alcohol that no other base activates in echinacea. It is an integral part of what makes BerryWell "work" so well for so many people.

A lot of commercially producted cough syrup has significantly more alcohol in it than BerryWell does. We have spoken with many Dr.'s and midwives about pregnant and nursing Mom's taking this product and not a single one have ever had a problem with it. We still strongly encourage all consumers to check with their own personal health care providers first before using any product! But, we personally know of no concerns when using this product with children 1 year and older and pregnant and nursing Mom's.

Thanks again for taking the time to review this product! Hope you have a fantastic day.
